Villa Anse
A house on the hill above Gouverneur beach with the sea on two sides, a pool that meets the sky, and a path down to the sand that takes six minutes and needs no car.
The south side of St Barths is the quiet side, and Gouverneur is its beach: a curve of sand with no restaurant and no beds, reached from the hill above. Villa Anse sits on that hill with the pool on the edge and the sea from every room, and a path through the scrub that comes out on the sand.
Five bedrooms take ten, in pavilions around the pool in the island manner. Gustavia is eight minutes by car for dinner, Saline is the next bay along, and the airport is twelve minutes, which on this island means everything is close.
For New Year the house is booked a year ahead. In February and March it is the same house at a third of the price and the island at its best.
