The Residence is the largest villa on a resort island in the northern atolls, set apart on its own beach with its own jetty, so the family has the privacy of a house and the depth of a resort behind it: the spa, the dive centre, the kids’ club and the restaurants are all a buggy ride away.
Four bedrooms take eight, and the staff, a butler, a chef and a boat crew, are there for the week. The house reef begins at the jetty steps, the manta cleaning station is twenty minutes by boat in season, and a sandbank for lunch is fifteen.
It is what we recommend when a family wants the Maldives without the hotel: their own beach, their own kitchen, their own boat, and everything else available by asking.
