A Cycladic house in a hollow of the Agios Lazaros hills, sheltered from the meltemi, with Psarou bay below and the town ten minutes away and out of earshot.
Kyma was built into the hill rather than on it, which matters on Mykonos: when the meltemi blows in August the pool terrace is calm and the house is quiet. The architecture is the island’s, white cubes and blue-grey shutters, and the interiors are stone, linen and wood.
Seven bedrooms in three buildings around the pool take fourteen. The chef cooks from the Ano Mera farms, the driver knows which beach club has the right crowd on which day, and the boat from Ornos makes Delos, Rhenia and the south coast a morning away.
It is the house for a family in June or September, or a group who want the night available and the day quiet.
