Dubai in January is what the Mediterranean is in July, with better service and no queues. The hotels are the best in the world at what they do, the restaurants have arrived in earnest over the past decade, and a family can go from the beach to the desert to a ski slope in an afternoon. The summer, from June to September, is not for visiting.
We work on the Palm and in the marina for beach villas, in Downtown and the DIFC for the city, and increasingly in Abu Dhabi, where Saadiyat has the best beach in the Gulf, the Louvre, and a calm that Dubai has traded away.
On the water the Gulf is flat and warm, the marinas are new, and a day cruise along the Palm and the World islands is the way to see the city. VAT on charter is five per cent.
