There are two Ibizas and we work in the quieter one: the north, from Santa Gertrudis to San Juan, where the fincas sit in almond terraces and the nearest club is forty minutes away. From there, the south, the beach clubs and the night are available when wanted and absent when not.
Formentera is the reason to have a boat here. Ses Illetes is the best beach in the Mediterranean and a yacht anchored off it at eleven in the morning, before the day boats arrive, is one of the great sights. Lunch at the beach restaurants is booked weeks ahead in summer, which is what we are for.
The island has excellent restaurants now, from the farm tables inland to the Japanese kitchens on the marina, and a wellness scene that is serious rather than decorative.
